Laura Selbmann Professor of Systematic Botany and Mycology, University of Tuscia (Italy). PI of STRES Culture Collection of Fungi from Extreme Environments (CCFEE)

She mainly focus on on extremophilic and extremotolerant black fungi in particular from crytoendolithic communities of the Antarctic ice-free areas, but her interest is extended on black fungi in extreme areas worldwide. Her research activity gave rise to the Culture Collection of Fungi From Extreme Environments (CCFEE), Mycological Section of the Italian Antarctic National Museum, which includes almost 1500 fungal strains most of which are Black Fungi. 21 genera and 52 species have been hitherto described by molecular phylogeny.
